APPSC EEO Grade III - Hindu Philosophy and Temple System - Preparation Strategy

If you have analyzed the syllabus, you would have realized that half of the syllabus is already familiar to you. Since childhood, you are familiar with Ramayana, Mahabharatham, Bhagavatham, etc from Parents, Stories, and Movies etc. But what you lack is Comprehensive Study. To score more marks from this paper, Comprehensive Study, Organisation of the Content, and Notes Making are important.

Comprehensive Preparation

Your first step should be to study the subject comprehensively. You can watch Satya IAS Academy and Raj ISmart YouTube Channels to study and make notes. These videos covered almost all topics of the syllabus comprehensively. If you don't have time to see videos from both sources, you can prefer any one channel.

Chapters 1 to 4: Ramayanam, Mahabharatam, Bhagavatham and Puranas

Free Gurukul Education Foundation has original authentic texts for Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Bhagavatham, etc. You can read texts or listen to audios or watch videos. Modali Venkata Subrahmanyam has written Ramayanam, Mahabharatam, and Bhagavatham in simple Telugu. You can download them from the Free Gurukul Website. If you have time, making notes from these books will help you not only for the examination but also in teaching your children and friends.

Ramayanam and Mahabharatam are two great epics centered around Lord Rama, and Lord Krishna respectively. Bhagavatham deals with Lord Vishnu and his avatars. Puranas deal with different aspects in each Purana. Instead of reading these like academic books, you should visualize them as a movie. For example, Senior NTR perfectly suits Lord Krishna, SV Ranga Rao suits Bheema, and Satyanarayana suits Duryodhana. If you can visualize these as in a movie while reading, you would remember everything. This makes your study very easy.

Chapters 5 to 8: Agamas, Festivals & Fine Arts, Vedic Culture, Philosophies & Cults

These 4 chapters resemble regular topics. Most of the topics are related to History and Culture. You might have already studied these topics in General Studies. If you have not studied them, then study them from standard History and Culture books. The following sources are sufficient for these chapters.

  • Standard History and Culture books
  • NCERT Class XI – An Introduction to Indian Art
  • CCRT Website: You can read CCRT website for relevant topics. It has a lot of valuable information. This is a website maintained by GoI. So the information is authentic.

Chapters 9 to 12: Different Laws

Except "Family structure in Hindu Society" topic, the remaining topics are related to various laws. You have two sources to read from. They are 1) Official Laws and 2) Their provisions from Wikipedia. These laws are not lengthy. Each law has about 30 sections which means you are required to read about 100 sections. These provisions can also be read in Telugu by using Google Translator. All links are provided here for your ease.
