UPSC Civil Services - Scheme of Recruitment

The UPSC Civil Services examination comprises two successive stages viz.

  • Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination; and
  • Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.

Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)

Notes:

  • General Studies Paper-II: It is a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
  • Negative Marks: Each wrong answer will be penalized with 1/3rd of the marks prescribed for the question.
